Allulose and monkfruit
We sweeten our liqueurs using a proprietary blend of plant-based sweeteners: allulose and monkfruit.
Monkfruit is a natural sweetener that is up to 250 times sweeter than cane sugar, yet it has no impact on blood sugar levels. Because the body metabolizes monkfruit differently than sugar, it contributes no calories and no glycemic spike.
Allulose is a rare sugar naturally found in small amounts in foods like figs and raisins. While it appears as a carbohydrate on nutrition labels, the body does not metabolize it like traditional sugar. It passes through the body largely unused and does not raise blood glucose or insulin levels, which is why it is widely used in keto and low-sugar products.
Together, monkfruit and allulose create a clean sweetness that closely resembles sugar without the metabolic effects of traditional sweeteners. This allows Above Board to deliver balanced cocktails with bold flavor while remaining keto-friendly and low-glycemic.
